It has been said that to be successful, the first thing to do is fall in love with your work.
Forty-five years ago, I found myself in France. I loved those two years. I learned a new language and was able to share my beliefs with thousands of native French speakers. When I came home, however, the only job I could find was flipping burgers at the BYU cafeteria. What’s more, I felt a bit disconnected from those with whom I had spent so much time. I wish the opportunity I will tell you about here had been present back then.
- Have a job that you love
- Utilize video gaming technology to teach English as a second language
- Do it from the comfort of your home or apartment
- Stay connected to your mission field
- Make good money to support yourself and your family
- Technology is an amazing thing. My wife, Dr. Linda Bradford, has always believed that we can find ways to use video gaming technology and use it for uplifting and useful purposes. I admire her dedication to creating a technology platform where instead of having video games interfering with classroom instruction, video game technology is at the core of your instructional paradigm. Video games are a dominant form of entertainment today because they are immersive, exciting, motivating, and often collaborative. ENTER FLUENTWORLDS.
This is the future of learning. Nick Macey, former Chief Product Officer of Rosetta Stone upon seeing the FluentWorlds platform stated:
“The FLUENTWORLDS environment provides a unique and revolutionary opportunity for teaching language. By blending an immersive environment with the social and teaching capabilities of the platform, I believe it will become the preferred way for learners to learn.”
Whether you desire to learn as just a hobby or need a new skill to access a more diverse job market, our objective is to help you achieve your goal
FluentWorlds uses 3D simulation of the Real World which has proven to “stimulate learning by allow multiple perspectives; they provide context-specific learning; and they allow an individual to practice skills that can be transferred to real life…” (Harvard Professor Chris Dede) This process is called IMMERSION. In the language learning world, this process is recognized by those travel abroad programs where you are sent to a foreign country to learn a language and culture by being in direct contact with native speakers and their environment. Usually, you need to make a hefty investment to be able to take part in any of these programs or have a remarkable scholarly reputation. We want to be able to offer everyone the opportunity to learn in a natural way without the need of traveling great distances and making huge financial efforts.
The net generation is in constant demand of fresh ways to acquire knowledge. With the availability of new technologies, we can now recreate the real world online. Our goal is to expand the classroom beyond the physical world. When we apply this to Foreign Language learning, we add important components such as immersion, remove any time constraint, and reach far beyond to places where sometimes it’s not possible to reach via traditional methods. When learning a foreign language, it is important to be able to experience the culture behind the language being learned and interact in a natural manner with peers to practice it.
Think about the endless possibilities we can provide students and the general population when we can recreate the Real World in a Virtual Environment.
To them, speaking the English language is no longer a “nice to have”; it is a “must have.” We believe we can get literally hundreds of returned LDS missionaries or anyone else that has served in a foreign country to teach English as a second language in our 3-D environments.
Think about utilizing the power, the energy and the social consciousness associated with these men and women. It gives them the opportunity to stay connected in a big way with the places they have previously lived and served. We harness their passion to do good in the world while driving a wholly unique and powerful revenue model
To all of those who think this opportunity is to good to be true, come check it out. As has been said, “Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men’s blood . . . Make big plans; aim high in hope and work.”
FluentWorlds is at the confluence of some major technology trends including social, voice recognition, eLearning, mobile and virtual Reality. We take advantage of a unique series of 3-D virtual classrooms allowing students from China, the Middle East, Vietnam, Germany, France, Korea, etc to learn English while meeting with a group of similarly situated students in 3-D online social environments like a grocery store, a hotel, an airport, a doctor’s office, NYC’s Central Park or Las Vegas so they LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH IN CONTEXT.
FluentWorlds is poised to become the market leader in the rapidly growing industry of language learning. Together we can utilize game-changing technologies to inspire and uplift millions around the globe.
